(the Caran, rue des Quatre Fils, Paris)

is Marcel Baudot, then inspector general in 1961, which proposes the creation of this center of onomastics originally designed as a tool for archivists writing inventories (to enable them to identify early forms of place names and others). Needle and thread, the center quickly encompassed in its scope the names but also the anthroponymy and now has beautiful library (almost 2500 books and reprints) and that a card collection (the fund includes mapping large series of common use: Cassini map, maps of Staff cards, the National Geographic Institute, etc.). and bibliographic files (made by tracing systematic studies relating to French and European onomastics, scholarly dissertations on single popular article).

This center is intended to centralize onomastic studies toponymy and anthroponymy on the entire French territory. Can be sent to the head of the Centre (see contact information on the site) Publications which can be associated and which includes an aspect onomastics. ... thus the search goes on ....
