In its press kit October 2004 (Dossier_de_presse_RENNES_01_octobre) Orange planned to wait 65% of the French population in 2006 (so as SFR) and 90% in late 2009 (may be with the UMTS frequencies in 900MHz). late 2008 according to a recent PC (press release) Orange announced able to cover 70% of the population (70% for SFR in late 2007!)

"The goal is to reach the Orange UMTS coverage of 33% of the population before the end of 2004 and 65% in 2006. In 2009, Orange will offer 3G services 90% of the French population. "
