Dangers to Children - When the family dog attack.
Our homes are often the last place where we expect to find hazards to children. Although we take extra precautions to ensure that our children are safe when they go off to school on the playground and pool, we often take our homes as a safe place - a place protected by locks, an alarm system and even a family dog. Even breeds with no history of aggression, however, are likely to be caused, especially by small children.
A family of San Diego has tragically discovered last weekend their toddler unconscious. In the early hours of Saturday, July 31 to August 1, 2010 while his mother slept, a boy, two years, was bitten by the family German shepherd. Doctors at Rady Children's Hospital announced that the boy was dead on arrival at the emergency room. The boy's father, who is in the army, was repatriated when the attack occurred produced.
attacks dog bites are among the most common hazards for children. Each year, about 4.5 million Americans are victims of dog attacks. Injuries caused by a dog attack sends 800,000 Americans to hospital each year. Children account for half of that number, with 386,000 cases that require urgent medical attention and 16 die from their injuries by bites. The risk is greater for children aged between 5 and 9 years. Injuries to the head and neck are more likely if the child is 4 years old. Boys are more often victims of dog attacks than girls.
Whatever breed of dog you choose, there is no guarantee he will never attack, so it is important to socialize the dog. Wrestling or playing tug of war with the dog will learn his aggressive tendencies and therefore should be avoided. In contrast, you should encourage the behavior of your dog to obey commands or releasing toys or the food he has in his mouth without grumbling - a submission which should be encouraged.
Whatever type of dog breed you choose or how the dog is obedient, never leave children, toddlers or young children unattended with a dog. Children are often less receptive to the signs that a dog can give when he wants to be left alone or is embarrassed, like when a dog growls or shows his teeth.
When older children go off to school or playing, they should always avoid stray dogs or strange. In case they are faced with a strange dog, they should avoid eye contact. Instead of running or screaming, they should remain motionless loud noises and rapid movements may provoke the dog. In the event they are attacked and brought to the ground by the dog, they should roll into a ball and remain motionless. Care Medical must be provided without delay.
The dog attacks can happen anywhere - even in our own homes. The dog bite attacks are one of the most common hazards for children, injuring hundreds of thousands of children each year. Teach our children the techniques of prevention against dog attacks is one of the first steps to prevent such tragedies.
To avoid such a tragedy and thus becoming another statistic, Yves Auger highly recommend the book by Caroline Lange the Lyon region.
